Choosing the right protein powder

Protein is the most important nutrient when it comes to bodybuilding. Proteins are the building blocks required to repair and grow muscle tissue when performing any type of activity that breaks down muscle tissue. A high protein diet is essential in the repair and grow process and it’s important to know how much you should be taking to ensure your hard work in the gym pays off.

To calculate your recommended protein intake you simply multiply your lean body mass by 1-1.5 and then we would divide that intake into 5 or 6 meals over the course of a day. Protein powders can help you hit your protein target simply by taking 2 or 3 protein shakes a day. Protein shakes are convenient, absorb fast (post-workout protein requirements) and they are much easier to absorb and digest.

Time

When do you think you need a protein shake the most? Some protein shakes can be even more useful at different times of the day. Casein protein for example takes longer to digest so its beneficial to take this as your last meal before bed – Your body would get a constant flood of aminos during that long space of time before your next meal. If you just want more protein (and you’re getting enough of everything else), stick with one thats just simply a protein powder. If you require more carbs and fat as well as protein, consider a mass gainer protein powder. Perfect when your trying to bulk up and typically contains a higher amount of protein per serving.
